After the maxi-junta of the schools of the construction sector, the situation within the school of Ing. building-architecture has profoundly changed.

If until a few months ago there was just a possibility of merging the three-year course in building engineering with the course of architecture and building production, today this project seems to really take consistency.

The teaching staff within the school of Ing. construction, as well as the student representation, are now deeply disappointed by the situation that is emerging: a single three-year course, headed by the birth of the united school of architecture, which has nothing to do with an engineering course as it is strongly limited in the credits related to technical-scientific subjects. This project seems senseless because, referring to statistics, the building engineering course has over 200 enrolled per year against about 20 of the architecture and building production course (23 enrolled in addition divided between Milan and Mantua in the last academic year).

The course in building engineering is a working course with good receptivity (despite the crisis in the sector) and leads to the specialized course of building systems engineering creating highly appreciated professionals in the world of work and with very high employment rates (over 90% of graduates employed in a few months from obtaining the degree). The data are not as comforting with regard to the course of arch. and building production, a course of study that at present cannot even count on a specialized degree of direct continuation.

Given this situation it seems profoundly wrong to insert the well-functioning school of Ing. building-architecture within the process of reorganization of the ICAR area, which should solve critical situations and not dismantle positive ones. The teaching staff of the VI school will present their reasons during the next ICAR commission and if necessary will proceed with a view to exempting themselves from this reorganization process, as was done at the time by the school of civil-environmental engineering.
